If you’ve excelled the Dutch, Fishtail and French braids, the Four Strand Braid should be the very next on your to do list. It may seem a bit complicated but mark my words it is not as difficult as it appear to be. If you practice it on yourself or on your friend you will definitely get it right.
You must be wondering why I am talking about Four Strand Braid, as it is the new and trending braid style across counties. Get rid of your three-strand braid now and go for a four-strand braid. It will make your hair look more intricate and voluminous than it seems in Three-Stranded Braid (Simple Braid), and it does take a bit more skills. But you should not worry with a bit of good practice; you can learn the art to master it. Four Strand is a good hairstyle to opt for morning date and also evening parties.
Things you will need to make Four Strand Braid
• Hair Comb
• Hair Brush
• Hair Ties
• Hair Clips
• Hair spray
• Dry Shampoo
• Ribbons and Bows (Optional)
Steps to make Four Strand Braid
Step 1: Detangle your hair using a hair comb to get rid of bumps.
Step 2: Decide where you want your braid to be positioned. (That is at the sides or at the centre behind)
Step 3: After you select the position make a partition, it is optional if you don’t you can avoid a partition.
Step 4: Divide your hair into four equal parts. Here to make this simpler we can name them 1, 2, 3 and 4 respectively.
Step 5: To start the braid cross the strand 4 over the strand 3, this will change the numbering. Now it will be 1, 2, 4 and 3.
Step 6: Now cross the strand 4 under the strand 2. This will again change the numbering making it 1, 4, 2and 3 respectively.
Step 7: Strand 1 was unattended, now we will use it and cross it under the strand 4. Now the number changes and becomes 4, 1, 2 and 3.
Step 8: Now cross the strand 1 over Strand 2, exactly similar to what we did with strand 4. Numbers are now 4, 2, 1 and 3.
Step 9: Keep repeating the steps as mentioned above.
Step 10: Secure the ends with Hair Tie.
Step 11: Using Hair Clips or Bobby Pins secure the falling hair.
Step 12: To set the hairstyle for long time use some Hair Spray.

Four Strand Braid Variations
You can go for many variations in this hairstyle by going for ponytail or a bun. Here I have mentioned the steps to go for it.
1. Four Strand Braid Bun:
Figure out where you want this bun to be positioned, start the regular Four Strand Braid (At the front section of the Head) from the opposite side of the bun, Make sure your Braid reaches the desired position from front to the back or sides by moving ahead it that direction, secure the braid with Hair Clips and Hair Tie, you can also make a ponytail before making a Bun for better hold and result.
2. Four Strand Braid Ponytail:
It is a very simple variation, as all you need to do is start the braid from the front section of your head either from the centre or the sides depending upon where you want your ponytail to be, when you reach the nape of your neck secure it with a Hair Tie making a Ponytail, secure falling hair with Hair Clips and Set Four Strand Braid Ponytail with Hair Spray.
