The origin of this hairstyle can be traced back to the era of the Ancient Greece. You must be wondering what does the word Chignon means. Well it is a French word that means nape of the neck. So from this you must have got a hint about what exactly this hairstyle will be.
Low Chignons are mainly created by pinning all the hair into a bun at the nape of the neck or you can also make it at the back of the head according to your preference. It is mainly secured using Hair Accessories in different styles creating new variations to this simple hairstyle. It is very versatile as you can style Low Chignon with your formal outfit like Checked Shirts, Pencil Skirt, A-line Dress and also with casuals like Denim, Tops, Swing Dress or Shorts. Things You Will Need To Make Low Chignon
• Dry Shampoo
• Volumizing Powder
• Hair Comb
• Hair Brush

Steps to Make Low Chignon
Step 1: Using a Hair Comb create a partition according to your preference either middle or side one.
Step 2: Detangle your hair using Hair Brush and also to avoid bumps.
Step 3: Section out small strands from the sides. (Near the ears)
Step 4: Join both the sections and tie it using Hair Elastics.
Step 5: Grab all the hair in the centre and make a loose ponytail at the nape of the neck.
Step 6: Pass this ponytail from the small pony like section you created in step 4.
Step 7: If your hair is long you have to go for this process of passing the ponytail twice or thrice. If your hair is short once will be enough.
Step 8: Pull out the ponytail hair so that it takes the shape of the bun.
Step 9: Secure the bun from the sides as well as the centre with Hair Clips or Bobby Pins.
Step 10: Set the Low Chignon Bun with Hair Spray.

Steps to Make Braided Low Chignon
Step 1: Using Hair Brush detangle your hair properly.
Step 2: Spray some Hair Spray to get proper hold over the hairstyle.
Step 3: Section out three parts using Hair Comb. Part the front into two parts. Divide the crown area and the lower area.
Step 4: Leave the front two sections aside. Take the crown area hair and create a pony like hairstyle using a Hair Tie
Step 5: Take small section from the lower area and start teasing them.
Step 6: Grab all the teased hair and secure its ends with a Hair Elastic.
Step 7: Roll up the Lower section’s tied hair into a bun and place it exactly below the crown area.
Step 8: Secure it from all sides using Hair Clips and Bobby pins.
Step 9: Now come to the front sections. You can curl it up before braiding it. (Optional)
Step 10: Opt for any braid as per your preference. (Simple Braid or Rope Braid)
Step 11: Secure it at the back over the bun.
Step 12: Set the hairstyle using Hair Spray.

Step to Make Twisted Low Chignon
Step 1: Detangle your hair properly with Hair Brush.
Step 2: Use some Hair Spray to set the hair.
Step 3: Partition your hair side or Middle according to your choice with a Hair Comb.
Step 4: Take small section and tease it.
Step 5: Repeat the same till you get required bounce and texture.
Step 6: Smoothen the hair with Hair Comb or Brush for polished results.
Step 7: Grab all your hair backward a make a Low Ponytail.
Step 8: Make a Small hole at the ponytail base (at the hair Tie) and pass the ponytail through it. The same as you do for Twisted Ponytail.
Step 9: Roll up the ponytail and make a Bun out of it.
Step 10: Secure the bun with Hair Clips and Hair Ties.
Step 11: Again you some Hair Spray if needed.
Step 12: From the front remove some bangs if you want, this will give you a bit messy look.

Steps to Make Side Low Chignon
Step 1: To avoid bumps detangle your hair with a Hair brush.
Step 2: Spray some Hair Spray to get desired texture and hold over the hairstyle.
Step 3: Using a Hair comb make a partition. Make sure if the partition is at the right your Side Low Chignon will be at left and vice versa.
Step 4: Hold your hair towards the side you want your hairstyle and divide it in two equal parts.
Step 5: Twist both the parts individually.
Step 6: Tie a tight knot from these two twisted parts. Keep on making the knots till you reach the end.
Step 7: Roll up this Knotted Bun and secure it from all sides with Hair Clips or Bobby pins.
Step 8: Pull out some hair to get an effect of thicker bun.
Step 9: Set the hairstyle with Hair Spray to make it last longer.
Step 10: Use some hair decorative like flowers or bows to enhance the look.
