The trench coat is a double breasted raincoat which was initially designed for the French and British soldiers. Due to its military origins the traditional trench coat was designed either in Khaki, Beige, Cream, or light Tan. Thus these became the classic Trench coat colors in history.
Although the beige, cream, tan or khaki trench coats look very formal and work well with a suit. A little knowledge of style and fashion is all that is required to team up the trench coats with more casual looks.
So today we are going to look at two basic ways to style your khaki, beige or tan trench coat;
- Formal and
- Casual
For a formal look, team up the khaki or tan or trench with a pair of formal suit trousers. You can add a white or a light blue dress shirt, and complete the look with a pair of black leather dress shoes. The light colored tan will balance the dark trousers perfectly and create a dapper look. I would suggest you button up your trench coat for the formal look. You my friend are now ready to take on the world.
For a casual look, my advice would be to opt for lighter and brighter hues. A crisp white long sleeve crew neck button down with a pair of blue jeans and some trainers are perfect way to go casual. You can even add a woolen scarf. It would work well to leave your trench coat unbuttoned. Looks more relaxed.
